Jets OL Duane Brown to Return for 17th NFL Season, per Report

After taking some time to contemplate his future, Jets left tackle Duane Brown has made the decision to return for a 17th NFL season, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported Sunday via Brown’s agent, Kennard McGuire.

Brown, a former All-Pro five-time Pro Bowl selection, spent the 2022 campaign with New York after signing a two-year, $20 million contract in free agency last offseason. The 37-year-old offensive lineman went on to start 12 games for the Jets (7–10) despite missing the first four games with a torn left rotator cuff he sustained during training camp.

Following the season, Brown underwent surgery to repair his injured rotator cuff after electing to hold off on the procedure until the end of the year. According to Pro Football Focus, Brown finished the year allowing just one sack and accumulating six penalties on his 744 snaps played.

The 26th pick in the 2008 draft, Brown has started in all of his 215 career games. He spent his first 10 seasons with the Texans where he earned a first-team All-Pro nod in ’12 and a second-team selection in ’11. Brown was eventually traded to the Seahawks in October 2017, and remained with the club for five seasons, earning another second-team All-Pro nod in ’18.
