Cowboys All-Pro Zack Martin Does Not Report for Training Camp, per Report
Cowboys star offensive lineman Zack Martin reportedly did not show up to the start of training camp amid his discontent over his current contract situation, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Martin, who has earned All-Pro honors in eight seasons, including six selections to the NFL’s First-Team All-Pro, previously threatened to sit out training camp as he looks to get compensated in line with his production on the field.
Under his current deal, Martin is due to make $13.5 million in 2023, including a $1.7 million base salary. That’s far below the league’s top earners at the offensive guard position.
For reference, the Falcons extended the contract of OG Chris Lindstrom on a five-year, $105 million deal which carries an average annual value of $21 million. Colts star Quenton Nelson makes $20 million per year, having signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the team back in 2022.
Martin reportedly failed to show up to Dallas’s team flight to Los Angeles on Monday ahead of the start of training camp on Tuesday, to which he did not report.
Last year, Martin featured in all 17 games for the Cowboys, making his sixth trip to the Pro Bowl after another excellent season. He’s featured in 137 games across his career, having been drafted by Dallas in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft.
