Joe Flacco’s Son Had Instant Feedback for Dad After Bad Interception in Jaguars-Browns Game
Let's get it out of the way: Browns quarterback Joe Flacco is old. He is a capital-M Millennial (with the 1985 birth certificate to prove it) in a league increasingly given over to Generation Z. He was college teammates with Larry Fitzgerald, who has been out of football for three years. FCS was still called Division I-AA when he transferred from Pittsburgh to Delaware.
However, the true measure of Flacco's age is this: he has children old enough to provide feedback on his game.
During a Wednesday afternoon availability with Cleveland media, Flacco told reporters that his 11-year-old son Stephen asked him where he was throwing the ball on his interception Sunday during Cleveland's 31-27 win over the Jaguars.
"My oldest son, the first thing he said was, 'Where were you throwing that ball? Where were you throwing that pick?'"Flacco told reporters with a smile.
The play in question was an abominable pass on third-and-four early in the second quarter with the Browns ahead 14-0. Flacco appeared to throw the ball directly into the waiting arms of Jacksonville cornerback Darious Williams, who returned the interception 11 yards.
It was the only glaring mistake Flacco made all day, however. The veteran threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns to lead Cleveland to victory.
