NFL World Roasts Aaron Rodgers for Ironic Assessment of Jets’ Shortcomings
When New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers entered the 2023 NFL season, he gave Jets fans a sense of hope that there would be more wins as well as the potential for the franchise to compete for a Super Bowl.
Rodgers never imagined being sidelined with a season-ending Achilles injury that he suffered in New York’s first game of the season in September. However, that was the reality for the four-time MVP.
Although the Jets capped the ’23 campaign with a 17–3 victory against the New England Patriots and registered only their fourth win in their last 11 games on Sunday, Rodgers was eager to turn the chapter on a disastrous season. On Monday, the 40-year-old gave a very frank assessment of where the focus of the franchise needs to be going into the offseason.
“Anything in this building that we’re doing that has nothing to do with winning needs to be assessed,” Rodgers said. “Everything that we do has to have a purpose ... the [expletive] that has nothing to do with winning has to get out of the building.”
However, Rodgers sharing his evaluation of the franchise led to NFL fans ripping him for his criticism while also suggesting that the veteran quarterback was a big part of the franchise’s problem.
Despite the reaction from fans to Rodgers’s comments, the 10-time Pro Bowler still plans on being the Jets signal-caller for “more than just next year.”
