Julian Edelman Blasts Teams Who Snubbed Bill Belichick for Being Unserious About Winning

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is widely considered to be the best coach in NFL history. So it came as a bit of a surprise when one of the most decorated coaches in the sport went without getting a new job after parting ways with the Patriots, and one of his former players has a theory as to why.

Julian Edelman was a member of three of the six Super Bowl-winning teams that Belichick led in New England and thinks the coach’s lack of a job is a reflection of teams not truly wanting to win.

“It just tells me that not everyone’s really about winning in this league,” Edelman said in a recent interview. “It’s crazy. Yeah, he’s tough. Yeah, he is a force to work with, but any team that brings him in instantly gets like 35% better.

“It just tells me that not every organization is trying to win,” he continued.

In the last 24 years with New England, Belichick has compiled a 266–121 record and has the most Super Bowl wins by any coach in NFL history. He ranks third all-time in career wins at 302, including his time with the Cleveland Browns.

And with every NFL team having filled their coaching vacancies, Belichick is expected to be without a job in 2024.
