Joe Flacco, Colts Agree to One-Year Contract in NFL Free Agency, per Report

The Indianapolis Colts are signing quarterback Joe Flacco to a one-year deal up to $8.7 million, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday. The deal guarantees $4.5 million.

Flacco is coming off of a renaissance season of sorts, one that helped him win NFL Comeback Player of the Year. He stepped up for the Cleveland Browns in the middle of the season after he sat on his couch as a free agent a few months prior.

Taking the reins in Week 13, the 39-year-old led the Browns to a 4–1 record in his five starts and guided them to the playoffs before they lost in the wild-card round. Flacco completed 60.3% of his passes for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Flacco admitted this offseason that he would prefer to stay with the Browns, but instead he will be joining the Colts, likely behind quarterback Anthony Richardson. The rookie last season only started in four games before suffering a right throwing shoulder injury

Gardner Minshew, who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, stepped up the rest of the season and led the Colts to a 9–8 record.
