BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera will miss at least two weeks because of a rib injury, while Toni Lydman is ready to return after missing Buffalo's first three games with a hand injury.

Coach Lindy Ruff provided the update after practice Monday, a day before the Sabres (2-0-1) host the Detroit Red Wings (2-2-0). Ruff declined to reveal the exact nature of the injury to Sekera, who was hurt in the second period of a 1-0 win at Nashville on Saturday.

A third-year player, Sekera had no points in three games this season.

Lydman, entering his ninth NHL season, has been out since hurting his hand during the preseason.

DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Avalanche have recalled defenseman Ryan Wilson, who will join the team in Boston.

The team said Wilson will be available to play against the Bruins on Monday.

The Avalanche acquired the 22-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, in a trade that sent Jordan Leopold to the Calgary Flames in March.

Wilson has played in three games with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters this season. He hasn't scored any points and has racked up 17 penalty minutes, the most on the team.
