Report: Denver "very likely" to host NHL outdoor game in 2015-16

Adrian Dater reports that Denver is "very likely" to be awarded an NHL outdoor game next season at Coors Field.

Want to catch an NHL outdoor game next season? Start looking into flights to Denver.

Adrian Dater of The Denver Post is reporting that the Mile High City is "very likely" to be awarded one next season at Coors Field.

Dater says the game will be part of the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series and will not be the 2016 Winter Classic.

The NHL has just one Stadium Series game on the docket this year—the Sharks will host the Kings on Feb. 21 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.—after a heavy schedule of four contests in 2013.

No word yet on a possible date or opponent, but a meeting between the Avalanche and the Red Wings would set the stage for an oldtimer's game of epic proportions. Here's hoping for that one.
