Ducks' Clayton Stoner sits out with mumps-like symptoms
Anaheim Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner sat out Sunday's game against the Arizona Coyotes because of a possible case of the mumps, the team announced.
He is the third Ducks player to have symptoms of the viral infection, which can cause saliva-producing glands swell up. The team said Stoner was held out of Anaheim's 2-1 victory over the Coyotes as a precaution.
Stoner will undergo further evaluation to see if he has the mumps, the team said. Stoner's teammates forward Corey Perry and defenseman Francois Beauchemin were diagnosed with mumps earlier this month and each sat out five games.

The Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues also had players diagnosed with mumps after playing games against Anaheim at the Honda Center last month.
Stoner is in his first year with the Ducks after spending the previous five seasons with the Wild. He has no points, a minus-4 rating and 16 penalty minutes in 20 games this season for Anaheim (13-4-5), which has the best record in the Western Conference.
