Injury-beleaguered Blue Jackets put Ryan Murray on shelf

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Ryan Murray on injured reserve, sidelining him for the next four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Murray, injured in Friday night's 7-1 win over St. Louis, missed 44 games earlier this season due to a knee injury. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 draft has one assist in nine games.

The 21-year-old native of Regina, Saskatchewan, had four goals and 17 assists, four penalty minutes and a plus-4 plus/minus rating in 66 games in his first NHL season in 2013-14.

The Blue Jackets have lost 324 man-games to injury this season with 31 games remaining. They had 292 in 82 games last season.
