Family of hockey icon Herb Brooks auctioning off coach's memorabilia
As the anniversary of the “Miracle On Ice” approaches, the Brooks family is pulling out some of Herb Brooks’ legendary items and putting them up on the auction block.
Nearly to 40 items are up for sale, according to a story in the Minnesota Star Tribune, including Brooks’ ring that he was given after winning the 1980 Olympics.

"We decided this was a good time to see if anyone has an interest in the stuff to just simplify our lives," Dan Brooks told Dave Campbell.
The ring is valued at $50,000 and has already reached $34,000 in online bidding. Also up for bid are the two championship rings he won at the University of Minnesota in 1974 and 1976. Those two, packaged together, are already going for more than $5,000.
Brooks’ 1968 Olympic jersey is up to $5,500 as of Wednesday evening.
Some of the more unconventional items include a binder that has questionnaires filled out by members of the 1980 Miracle On Ice team, a letter Brooks wrote asking to be considered as coach of the Olympic team and his notes from the script of the 2004 Disney movie based on the team's inspiring story.

In total, the items are expected to go for more than $200,000.
For the first time in 35 years, all living members of the 1980 squad are expected to reconvene in Lake Placid as part of a celebration of the landmark Olympic moment.
