Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon out 6-8 weeks with broken foot
Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon will miss the next six to eight weeks with a fractured foot, the team announced Friday.
The team did not disclose how or when MacKinnon was injured.
MacKinnon, 19, is fifth on the team in scoring this season with 14 goals and 24 assists.
MacKinnon has played in every game for the team since he was the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NHL draft. He scored 24 goals and assisted on 39 others during his rookie season.

Colorado (28-25-11) is coming off a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. The Avalanche have the third-worst record in the Western Conference, just a season after finishing second in the West with 112 points.
