Watch: Sabres’ Eichel scores vs. Bruins in Boston homecoming

Sabres forward Jack Eichel played his first NHL game is Boston, and the hometown boy notched a goal with his family in the crowd.

Jack Eichel has returned to his old stomping grounds and brought his old ways with him. 

Eichel, a Boston-area native and former standout at Boston University, found the back on the net in the third period in his first NHL game at TD Garden on Saturday against the Bruins. 

The second pick in the 2015 NHL draft, Eichel sent a puck at the net that directed in off Kevan Miller’s skate and behind goalie Jonas Gustavsson.

The tally knotted the game at three apiece, but he wasn't done yet, adding an empty-net goal all the way from Buffalo‘s defensive end in the Sabres five-goal third period rally for a 6-3 victory.

Not a bad homecoming for the 19-year-old center, who played with the local Jr. Bruins of the EmJHL before joining the USNTDP, and then went on to racked up 26 goals and 71 points in 40 games and the Hobey Baker Award in his only season with BU.
