Bruins win on Marchand’s OT penalty shot goal
The Boston Bruins have been around for a long time. Ninety-two years, to be exact.
Given the length of their tenure in the NHL, there isn’t much that happens for the first time in team history anymore. One of those firsts came on Saturday.
Brad Marchand, in the midst of a career year, sealed a 2–1 Bruins win over the Sabres by using a silky-smooth deke to slip the game-winner past Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner on a penalty shot in overtime—the first overtime game-winner scored on a penalty shot in Bruins franchise history, since they entered the NHL as the league’s first American team in 1924.

The goal was Marchand’s 24th of the season, a Bruins team best.
Marchand’s career high came when he scored 28 goals in 76 games during the 2011–12 season. He has 24 goals in 47 games in 2015–16.
