Flames fire coach Bob Hartley one year after winning Jack Adams Award

The Flames have fired head coach Bob Hartley after four seasons, the team announced Tuesday.

Hartley led Calgary to its first playoff appearance since 2009 last season and was the recipient of the 2015 Jack Adams Award as the league’s top coach. 

The Flames finished in fifth place in the Pacific Division this season, though, with 20 fewer points than they compiled in 2014-15. They will pick sixth in the first round of the NHL Draft on June 24.

Hartley, 55, made his NHL coaching debut in 1998 with the Avalanche and led Colorado to the Stanley Cup championship in 2001. 

Assistant coach Jacques Cloutier was also let go.
