Blackhawks Trading Patrick Kane to Rangers, per Report
The Blackhawks are trading wing Patrick Kane to the Rangers in exchange for a 2023 conditional second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick, as first reported by Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff.
According to Emily Kaplan of ESPN, the second-round pick could become a first-round pick in 2024 or ’25 on the condition that the Rangers make the Eastern Conference finals this season. The Coyotes are also involved in the deal, Kaplan reports.
Kane, 34, spent the first 16 years of his career with Chicago, which drafted him with the No. 1 pick out of the Ontario Hockey League in 2007. He won the Calder Trophy in his age-19 season in 2008.
With the Blackhawks, Kane went on to become one of the most decorated players in franchise history, as well as one of the most decorated American players in the history of hockey.
He and Chicago won Stanley Cups in 2010, ’13 and ’15, and he received the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP in 2016. He won his only scoring title in ’16, racking up 106 points to become the first Blackhawk to capture the Art Ross Trophy since Hall of Fame forward Stan Mikita in 1968.
At 34-17-9, New York is currently third in the Metropolitan Division. The Rangers trail the Hurricanes by nine points for the division lead and the Devils by six points for second place.
