LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) Pere Miro has been given a new management role with the International Olympic Committee.

The Spaniard was appointed Wednesday as Deputy Director General for Relations with the Olympic Movement.

The IOC says Miro's new duties will include assisting and advising President Thomas Bach and director general Christophe De Kepper and coordinating all subsidies given to Olympic bodies.

Miro will keep his positions as head of relations with national Olympic committees and director of Olympic Solidarity, the body which distributes grants and scholarships. He has held those roles since 1997.

In another management change, IOC communications director Mark Adams will serve as Bach's ''presidential spokesman.''

The IOC reported that work on the new Olympic Channel is ''well advanced.'' Creation of a digital channel was approved in December.
