American basketball player Paul George is hoping to meet with the French gymnast who suffered a graphic leg injury on Saturday, USA Today’s Sam Amick reports

Samir Aït Saïd broke his left leg during the vault qualification, prematurely ending his first Olympics.

George suffered a similar injury during a USA Basketball exhibition in July 2014. He had the idea to meet with Saïd but it’s unclear if the meeting will be able to occur because Saïd is not yet accepting visitors at the hospital, a Team USA spokesman told Amick.

George returned to the court nine months after the injury and played 81 games for the Pacers this season. He is making his first Olympic appearance this year and scored 15 points in the United States’ opening game against China.

In a video posted to Facebook on Sunday, Saïd said he hopes to compete in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
