Formula 1 president and CEO Bernie Ecclestonesaid he wants to run the sport for "as long as I can."

The 83-year-old Ecclestone just finished a three month trial over his alleged bribing of German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky £26m ($44 million) to ensure a private equity company could buy F1, allowing Ecclestone to remain in control. Ecclestone admitted making the payment but said it was not a bribe.

Ecclestone paid a £60m ($99 million) settlement to avoid a 10-year prison sentence, saying "because there's a system in Germany which allows you to do that."

Ecclestone is worth $4.2 billion, according to Forbes and says he always believed he would walk away from the trial a free man.

"I'm not scared of anything to be honest with you," he said to the BBC. "It never bothered me because I knew I was innocent."
