Legendary college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale weighed in on Twitter today about the ongoing college athletic conference shuffle.

“Politicians should stay away from conference situations & devote their time in getting ppl jobs & helping our economy,” Vitale tweeted to his nearly 200,000 followers.

Vitale’s tweet is likely referencing the news that broke yesterday that Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell got involved in the expansion discussions of the Big 12. Leading into Tuesday night, it seemed that Big East powerhouse West Virginia would be accepted into the Big 12, however, last minute lobbying by McConnell reportedly helped slow that decision in favor of Louisville. The latest reports from The New York Times state that the decision is “50-50 right now between West Virginia and Louisville,” on who will be admitted to the Big 12.
