Report: Cardinals Tab Chris Carpenter To Start Game 7

St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has tabbed the team’s ace, Chris Carpenter, to start Game 7 for his squad, according to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The Cardinals were able to come from behind against the Texas Rangers last night several times in a thrilling Game 6. Despite finding themselves down to their last strike twice in the elimination game, the Cardinals produced two-run comebacks in the bottom of the ninth and tenth innings before winning the game in the bottom of the eleventh.

Carpenter will be pitching tonight on three days rest. The outing will be his third of the series. In his first start in Game 1 the 36-year-old earned the victory by allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work. In Game 5 he earned a no decision after allowing two earned runs in seven innings of work. In total he has a 2.77 ERA in the series.
