The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed punter Daniel Sepulveda on injured reserve with a knee injury, according to the team’s official Twitter account. The team re-signed free agent punter Jeremy Kapinos to replace Sepulveda.

Sepulveda was averaging a career-high 46.1 yards per punt this season. Sepulveda missed the last four games of 2010 with a knee injury as well and was placed on injured reserve in 2008 with a torn right ACL. Kapinos was signed last season when Sepulveda was placed on injured reserve and averaged 41.1 yards per punt in the season’s final four games. He has not played yet in 2011.
