Report: Penn State President Graham Spanier Will Quit or Be Fired By End of Wednesday

Penn State University president Graham Spanier will either be voted out or resign by the end of Wednesday, The Express-Times reports, citing sources close to the Board of Trustees.

Since the news of the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke, Spanier has not been available to the public.

Spanier was at the top of the chain of command at Penn State and failed to involve police in the Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that involved roughly 20 victims, all young boys, over a 15 year time period. He has not been criminally charged, however calls for his resignation are numerous. Other Penn State administrators, Tim Curley (athletic director) and vice president Gary Schultz have been charged with perjury and failure to report child abuse.

The pending action against the standing Penn State president comes as coach Joe Paterno announces his retirement at the end of the season. At the time, the Board of Trustees was still deliberating when Paterno should make his exit and can still decide to fire Paterno, the winningest coach in Division I history.
