Archie Manning Says People Have Requested Peyton As New Ole Miss Head Coach

Archie Manning, who has been named the co-chairman of the selection committee in charge of choosing Mississippi University’s next head coach, told Commercial Appeal that he has been inundated with requests for the school to hire his son Peyton for the gig.

"I've gotten about 20 or 25 e-mails from people in that regard," Archie Manning told the Commercial Appeal on Monday night. "I passed that on to Peyton. He said, 'Just tell them that I'm 0-10 as an assistant for Indianapolis.”

Peyton Manning has missed the entirety of the 2011-12 season due to offseason neck surgery. The former MVP has watched his team go winless through the first 10 weeks of the season while holding a clipboard on the sidelines. Manning has made no public notions that he is ready to retire, however, many wonder how much longer the 35-year-old quarterback can continue to be healthy for the Colts.
