Andy Murray was defeated by David Ferrer in straight sets in the opening round of the ATP World Tour Finals, BBC Sports reports. Murray was a 17-1 favorite.

Murray, tennis’ world No. 3, required treatment for a groin injury after losing the first set. Ferrer was able to defeat Murray 6-4 and 7-5 in the next two sets to win in a two hour match in London, where Murray resides.

Murray finished the match with a whopping 44 unforced errors. In each of his five previous meetings with Ferrer, Murray had emerged victorious. In a pre-tournament press conference, Murray mentioned he was nursing a few injuries.
