Report: Broken Thumb To End Jay Cutler's Season

Chicago Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler has a broken thumb on his throwing hand, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. Later reports suggested that Cutler's season may be cut short due to the injury and subsequent surgery.

Cutler was injured trying to make a tackle after throwing an interception late against the San Diego Chargers. He completed two passes after suffering the injury.

Caleb Hanie would be Cutler's replacement, if the starter is unable to go next week. Hanie replaced Cutler in the 2010-11 postseason, throwing for 153 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's loss to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game.
