Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been ruled out for this weekend’s game against the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN.com.
Peterson sustained a high ankle sprain in a Nov. 20 21-27 loss to the Oakland Raiders. The 26-year-old only completed six carries in the game for 26 yards and missed the Vikings’ following game against the Atlanta Falcons.
The former NFL rushing champion has yet to be cleared to practice but was able to run on the sprained left ankle and says he’s “getting more movement.”
Prior to his injury, Peterson has averaged 4.7 yards per carry for 872 yards and 11 touchdowns.
