Hurricanes Trade D Tomas Kaberle For Canadiens D Jaroslav Spacek

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded defenseman Tomas Kaberle to the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Jaroslav Spacek, NHL.com reports.

Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford was reportedly not content with Kaberle’s play. The 33-year-old Czech Republic native has no goals, nine assists and is a minus-12 plus/minus rating this season.

Spacek has appeared in 12 games this season and has tallied three assists and holds a plus-2 plus/minus rating. Spacek, 37, is currently sidelined due to an upper-body injury, but could be available to return to play against his former team this Saturday.

Kaberle signed a three-year, $12.75 million contract this offseason. Spacek will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
