Free-agent center Tyson Chandler had already publicly discussed his plans to sign with the New York Knicks, but there was one hitch to the plan: the Knicks needed to clear some cap room.  Now, according to a report from Marc Berman of the New York Post, that space has been cleared by way of a trade with the Washington Wizards, and the Knicks will be signing Chandler shortly.

"According to [a] source," Berman tweeted, "Knicks finalizing trade for Ronny Turiaf to Wizards [tonight] which will create enough cap space to make Chandler official." The Knicks were also expected to release Chauncey Billups under the amnesty clause created in the new CBA, which would result in his salary not counting against their cap.
