Report: BBWAA Has No Plans To Strip Ryan Braun of MVP

The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) reportedly has no plans to strip Ryan Braun of his Most Valuable Player award if he is suspended after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The BBWAA also does not plan to hold another vote pending a suspension. Longtime BBWAA award administrator Jack O’Connell cited precedents in MLB history in the BBWAA’s decision.

“I got the same question after Ken Caminiti came clean about his steroids usage, and whether we should give the 1996 MVP award instead to Mike Piazza. The answer is no.”  O’Connell told reporters.  "We did not strip Alex Rodriguez of the 2003 MVP when it was learned later he used PEDs while in Texas. The voters used the infomation they had at the time of the election. I don't see how we can change that."

The 28-year-old Braun  tested positive for PEDs after submitting a urine sample during the playoffs.
