The New England Patriots have place defensive end Andre Carter on the injured reserve with an undisclosed leg injury, according to the team’s official website.

Carter was hurt in the first quarter of the Patriots victory over the Denver Broncos. The 11-year NFL veteran was carted from the field and did not return. It is believed the 32-year-old will undergo surgery soon.

In 14 games this season for the Patriots, Carter had totaled 52 tackles and 10 sacks. He set Patriots single game record this season when he recorded four sacks against the New York Jets. Last year in 16 games with the Washington Redskins, Carter managed only 2.5 sacks and 44 tackles. Throughout his career he has accumulated 76 sacks
