The Chicago Cubs have reached an agreement with free-agent Reed Johnson, according to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The one-year deal is still pending a physical.
Last year Johnson hit .309/.348/.467 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 111 games with the Cubs. This coming season will mark the fourth time in five years that Johnson has been on the team’s roster.
Last year Johnson earned $900,000 in a one-year deal with the Cubs. The 35-year-old originally began his career with the Toronto Blue Jays where he became known as one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. Last season, however, Johnson posted a -7.8 UZR/150. The year before he had posted a 15.5 UZR/150 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
