Tampa Bay Rays superstar third baseman Evan Longoria denied a circulating online rumor that he wanted out of Florida, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

"I don't have any idea where that rumor came from! It's completely false,'' Longoria told the Times via text. "I've said from the start I love Tampa, I love the direction we are heading as a franchise and there is no better place for me to continue to grow as a player and person.''

Longoria has been a centerpiece for the Rays recent emergence as a major power in the American League East. In his four Major League Seasons, the 24-year-old has been selected to three All-Star teams, won two Gold Gloves, and was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2008. In the spring of 2008, Longoria signed a six-year, $17.5 million contract, making him one of the better bargains in baseball.
