White Sox Officially Sign John Danks To 5-Year, $65 Million Deal

The Chicago White Sox have officially agreed to terms on a five-year, $65 million deal with John Danks, according to the team’s official Twitter account.

Danks, 26, posted an 8-12 record this season while striking out 135 batters in 170.1 innings pitched. The left-handed starter had previously recorded ten-or-more wins and an ERA below four in each of the three previous seasons.

Danks had previously been rumored to be a trade candidate for the White Sox, however after longtime starter Mark Buehrle decided to sign with the Miami Marlins, the team made the move to commit to Danks long term.

Despite several major offseason moves last winter, the White Sox finished in third place in the American League Central with an 79-83 overall record.
