The New Orleans Saints placed running back Mark Ingram and linebacker Will Herring on injured reserve Tuesday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Herring was injured Sunday in the Saints' 45-17 win over the Carolina Panthers. His injury was not disclosed.

Ingram injured his toe early in the season, and he re-aggravated the injury in practice. In his rookie season, the former Heisman Trophy winner rushed for 474 yards and five touchdowns. He is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday, according to the report. The report states that offensive guard Eric Olsen and linebacker Nate Bussey are expected to take the vacated roster spots.
