Backup outfielder Scott Hairston is expected to re-sign with the New York Mets, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Hariston, 31, hit .235/.303/.470 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 79 games for the Mets in 2011. Over the course of his career, his 162 game average has been .244/.303/.437 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI. Hariston had his best season in 2009 when he combined between the San Diego Padres and the Oakland Athletics to hit .265/.307/.456 with 17 home runs and 64 RBI in 116 games played.
