Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak approves of defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, interviewing for the vacant head coaching position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“There's obviously a window where they have to ask for permission to talk to your guys, and then you try to make it work within your normal schedule," Kubiak told the Associated Press.
The Texans head coach believes that the news of Phillips’ interview will not deter from the Texans preparation for their divisional playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. In fact, Kubiak reportedly believes that this opportunity is a compliment to his program and the hard work of the players and defensive staff.
"We're proud of any opportunity any one of our coaches would get," Kubiak told the AP. "It will not be a distraction. It's a compliment, and we'll get ready to go."
The Texans defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 31-10 last weekend to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
