Penn State has hired UCF defensive coordinator Ted Roof as its new defensive coordinator, according to CBS Sports.

Roof was just hired a month ago at UCF after a disappointing season in which his Auburn defense ranked 11th in the SEC in both total yardage and scoring defense.

According to CBS Sports, Roof worked with new Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien at Duke from 2003 to 2007, when O’Brien was Roof’s offensive coordinator. On Monday, O’Brien also hired John Strollo to be his offensive line coach and Stan Hixon to be his wide receivers coach, according to CBS Sports.
