The San Francisco Giants and outfielder Melky Cabrera have avoided arbitration by reaching a one-year, $6 million deal, according to The Associated Press.

Last season Cabrera, 27, had 18 homeruns and 87 RBIs while hitting .305 for Kansas City before being traded to the Giants in November.

Prior to last season, Cabrera was let go by Atlanta after hitting .255 with just four home runs and 42 RBIs 55. He went on to sign a $1.25 million contract with the Royals. Cabrera originally came up as a member of the New York Yankees but was traded to Atlanta in the deal that sent Javier Vazquez to New York.
