Lowe posted a series of tweets indicating that his “people” had informed him that Manning would retire. Lowe is a noted Colts fan, however he is not one to break sports news.

Manning is currently in the midst of attempting to come back after he missed the entirety of the 2011 NFL season after undergoing neck surgery. As a result, the Colts went just 2-14 after finishing 2010 with a 10-6 record. There has been rampant speculation that the Colts, owners of the No. 1 pick in this spring’s NFL draft, will select quarterback Andrew Luck. This has left the former MVP’s future with the franchise unknown. According to most accounts, however, Manning is expected to play in 2012, whether it is with the Colts or not.
