Mike Piazza Wants To Enter The Hall of Fame As a New York Met

Mike Piazza said during an interview at a Knicks game in Madison Square Garden that he would like a New York Mets hat on his Hall of Fame, according to NBC Sports.

“It’s gotta be the Mets, no question” replied Piazza when asked which team he’d like to represent in Cooperstown.

Players, however, are not able to choose which hat they wear; that decision is ultimately made by the Hall of Fame.  Piazza played 246 more games for the Mets than he did for the Dodgers, however he statistically had a better career while he played for Los Angeles. As a member of the Dodgers. In L.A., he hit .331/.394/.572, won the Rookie of the Year award and was a two-time runner up for MVP. As a Met, he hit .296/.373/.542 with 220 home runs and 655 RBI.

Next year’s Hall of Fame ballot will mark the first time the 12-time All-will be eligible for enshrinement.  He will be joined by other first timers including Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, Curt Schilling, Craig Biggio, Roberto Hernandez, and Kenny Lofton
