Hall of Fame cacher Gary Carter passed away today after a battle with brain cancer, according to MLB’s official Twitter account.

Carter played 19 years in the major leagues, winning three Gold Gloves and five Silver Sluggers behind the plate. Since his retirement Carter has served as a broadcaster and coach. He was 57-years-old. Over the course of his career Carter hit .262/.335/.439 with 2,092 hits and 1,225 RBI. An 11-time All-Star, Carter finished in the top-ten in MVP voting four times.
