Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has asked the front office to pursue 16-year veteran and Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, according to CBS Sports.
Sources close to the situation say that Howard will not exercise his early termination option if the Magic are able to acquire Nash.
Howard made headlines prior to the season when he requested that the Magic trade him. Prior to that demand, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year stated that if Orlando is unable to surround him with a championship caliber team, that he would opt out of his existing contract and become a free-agent this offseason. The Magic made the decision not to move Howard in December with the hopes that they could convince him to stay. For the Suns, Nash is averaging 13.9 points and 10.9 assists per game. The Magic’s Dwight Howard is averaging 19.9 points, 15.2 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.
