The Philadelphia Eagles are finalizing a contract extension with Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole, according to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN:

The 29-year-old Cole has recorded double-digit sacks in four of the last five seasons, and 68 total for his career. He was named a Pro Bowler for the NFC in both 2007 and '09.

The extension for Cole likely means the Eagles will not be players for Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams, who also hits free agency today. The Eagles also announced an extension today for offensive tackle Todd Herremans.
