The Los Angeles Lakers are close to a trade involving Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley, according to the Orange County Register.
The three-team trade could force the Lakers to give up their back-up point guard, Steve Blake, as well as a first round draft pick to the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland would, in turn, send guard Jamal Crawford to Minnesota.
“This is the first time I have heard this name today.” Lakers head coach Mike Brown told reporters about the potential trade. Beasley, who played at Kansas State University, was chosen second overall in the 2008 NBA draft. Despite questions about his commitment, the 23-year old Beasley would bring athleticism and youth to an aging Lakers team.
