Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett may miss his first start, according to a tweet from Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.

It is unclear what the issue with Beckett’s thumb is, however the All-Star hurler has had issues with blisters on his pitching hand throughout his career. He has only pitched 200 innings or more three times in his 11-year career. Last season, Beckett posted a 13-7 record with a 2.89 ERA. Over the course of his career, he has won 125 games and posted a 3.84 ERA in 1721.2 innings pitched.
