The NHL will not discipline Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik for his knee-on-knee hit on New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.
Orpik was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit.
The hit prompted Rangers coach John Tortorella to call out the Penguins after the game, calling the hit “cheap and “dirty.” From there, he called Pittsburgh an “arrogant organization” and referred to Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby as “whining” stars. He was fined
$20,000 for those comments.
