The New Orleans Saints are still looking for a replacement head coach for the suspended Sean Payton -- but you can rule out Bill Parcells. Parcells plans to stay retired, according to Mike Freeman of CBS.

Payton's suspension begins in less than a week, so the Saints need to act quickly on hiring an interim coach if they want Payton's input. With Parcells out of the picture, the Saints now turn their attention to making a hiring from within.

Assistant coach Joe Vitt has emerged as the leading contender for the job, but there's a catch -- Vitt is also suspended, but only for the first six games of the regular season. Hiring Vitt would require a replacement for the replacement coach, and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is in prime position to land that job. Steve Spagnuolo, the team's defensive coordinator, also has head coaching experience -- he was the St. Louis Rams' head honcho from 2009 to 2011.
