Former Canadiens Captain Emile "Butch" Bouchard Dead At 92

Emile "Butch" Bouchard, longtime captain of the Montreal Canadiens, died yesterday at the age of 92, according to the Associated Press.

Bouchard scored 49 goals in 785 games during his 15-year NHL career, leading the Habs to four Stanley Cups. He was the captain for eight seasons, from 1948 to his retirement in '56. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966.

"He was one of the great captains in the history of the Canadiens," said Rejean Houle, alumni president for the Canadiens. "It was a period where the team really became a dynasty."
