Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended three games for hitting Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith in the head during Saturday’s game, according to NHL.com.

Shaw was assessed a major penalty for charging and a game misconduct after he hit Smith behind the goal during the second period. Shaw, 20, had 12 goals and 11 points in 37 games with the Blackhawks during the regular season. He has no goals or assists through the first two games of the series against the Coyotes, which is tied 1-1 and resumes Tuesday night in Chicago.
